enron.jpgEnron: The Smartest Guys In The Room is, without a doubt, the most entertaining film about accounting that I've ever seen. Opening with the end-of-scandal suicide of executive Cliff Baxter and then jumping back to the saga's beginning, director Alex Gibney juxtaposes home video and TV news footage with stunning HD video to recount the path of America's 7th largest corporation from exalted riches to inescapable ruin. At turns humorous and provacative, sad and infuriating, Enron could be this year's Fahrenheit 9/11 - except, lucky for them, Gibney doesn't carry with him the distracting personality baggage of a certain Academy Award winning showboatist.
