melissa_george2.jpgShowbizData is using, um, showbiz data to estimate that The Amityville Horror earned $8.8 million yesterday, far more than the number 2 film, Sahara, which brought in just $3.7 million. These numbers are a strong indication that Horror will triumph in the final weekend returns, besting a host of films that, for the most part, have been lingering on the charts for weeks. It's been a sleeper-heavy spring; Guess Who will probably end up out-grossing Sin City, despite the latter film's big opening weekend, because Guess Who will stick around longer. Case in point: The Pacifier is still in the top ten after six weeks; building steadily ever weekend, it's grossed as much as those two films combined.
