Anyone who read Cinematical's SXSW coverage knows that we are big fans of Andrew Bujalski and his genius new movie, Mutual Appreciation. That film is still making the festival rounds, but the Boston-based filmmaker's first picture, Independent Spirit Award-winning Funny Ha Ha, opens in New York and Boston this weekend.

To celebrate, Goodbye Cruel Releasing is throwing a party this Wednesday night at The Delancey, featuring a live performance by indie rock favorites Bishop Allen. Bishop Allen are kind of the Bujalski movie house band; guitarist Christian Rudder plays the almost-love-interest in Funny Ha Ha, singer/guitarist Justin Rice played the lead role in Mutual Appreciation and has a cameo in Funny Ha Ha, and Bishop Allen's songs play in both movies. The party goes from 7:30-10pm; The Delancey is located at 168 Delancey Street; it's 21+ and totally free.

Both the band and the movie have websites worth checking out, especially if you like subtle jokes and cute boys. On the Funny Ha Ha website, you can watch the film's trailer, which is excellent, and should tide you over until Wednesday.
