Chronicles of NarniaUSA Today reports The Chronicles of Narnia is almost ready to go, save one thing-they've lost the voice of Aslan, Narnia's famous lion. Brian Cox was set to do the voice, but evidently in practice the big Scotsman doesn't sound big enough. They better find someone quick. The teaser will appear on television May 7th during ABC's airing of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and the full trailer shows up as a preview to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. According to USA Today, Disney hopes to invigorate itself with it's version of C.S. Lewis' Narnia, especially after they passed on Lord of the Rings (oops). Don't worry, there are at least seven "Chronicles" to the Chronicles-plenty of time to create CGI characters just as annoying as Smeagol. Excuse me, "digitally rendered animals." While Disney is darkening Lewis's tome, they're not cutting the book's completely transparent Christian allegories (Alsan the Lion as Christ figure), probably in hopes that they'll grab some more of that newly-lucrative Bible Belt demographic. Stars already in the bag for the film include a whispy, spook-eyed TildaSwinton, RupertEverett as the Fox, and Girl with a Pearl Earring's Anna Popplewell. [via MCN]
