Atom Egoyan's Where the Truth Lies is causing a morsel of controversy in Cannes. The film, "a thriller about two over-sexed Hollywood celebrities set in the 1950s", features numerous narrative-driven sex scenes involving some nudity. Egoyan and star Kevin Bacon insist any fuss is unwarranted. "It's unfortunate that people find that so disturbing," Bacon said. "To me the sex in this film is extremely appropriate." Egoyan agreed, stating that his goal was "to create this world that was intoxicating. [The characters] could take any amount of drugs they wanted and have as much sex as they wanted. It was an unbridled atmosphere."
