Retail behemoth Wal-Mart and online DVD rental service Netflix have partnered up. Wal-Mart previously had a rental program going and current subscribers will have the choice of having their membership taken over by Netflix. The deal essentially throws a life-preserver to Wal-Mart, who couldn't break the 100,000 member ceiling. It has to be tough for a company like Wal-Mart, used to entering an arena and crushing its competition, to admit defeat, but Netflix had a head-start in the market and had good word-of-mouth despite a higher price-point.
