Winne The PoohDisney has reached an agreement with the heirs of the writer and illustrator of the Winnie the Pooh books. Niki Alvey reports over at our sister site BloggingBaby that the film rights had been granted to Disney, while the North American merchandising rights had been granted to the U.S. firm Stephen Slesinger. Under terms of changes in the copyright law that allows the heirs of creators to reclaim their rights and enter into new agreements, the granddaughter of creator AA Milne and the granddaughter of illustrator EH Shepard decided to reclaim the merchandising and film rights to the characters and enter into a new agreement exclusively with Disney.
