Posterwire has done an interesting analysis of the one-sheet for the new Bad News Bears. Like the poster for the original film, it features an old-fashioned caricature of the stars. Though naturally a smarmy sunglassed-and-mustachioed Billy Bob Thornton replaces a pleasantly grizzled, if flask-gripping, Walter Matthau, not much else has changed. Even the logo, though much more prominent in the new poster, has travelled through time. Considering how beseiged we've been lately by remakes, it's curious that this is the first set of films that I can think of in which the poster for the redux makes such obvious reference to the original. Or, is there something I've missed?
