Hey, guys - can we, like, stop it with the Chicken Little box office stories? Because, in what should come as a surprise to absolutely no one, now that summer is here, it doesn't seem like the problem ever existed. The numbers: Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith came from behind to top the weekend box office with $70.8 million, bringing its total gross to just over $270 million, in just about a week-and-a-half. Meanwhile, this week's two new releases, The Longest Yard and Madagascar, ended the frame in just about a dead heat: the latter scrapped up $61 million; the former, $60 million. Even Monster-in-Law is holding on respectably - J. Lo et al made $11.1 million this weekend; currently at $60.7 million, it's gross should climb near $100 million by the end of the summer. Yes, this weekend's total is about $14 million down from last year's Memorial Day weekend - but there were only two major new releases this weekend, and last year broke a record. As always, full top ten after the jump.
