Ewan McGregor has committed to his next four movie roles... all in a single film. If that doesn't sound weird enough it gets even better. McGregor will star in the period film within the period film as a 1930s Hollywood star, his stand-in and both of the 18th-century characters they play in the movie they're shooting. No, it's not Charlie Kaufman's period epic we've all been waiting for, it;s an untitled British comedy written and directed by Scot Peter Capaldi.

Capaldi's multi-layered script deals with an epic film being shot in the 1930s about the Jacobite rebellion of 1745, in which Scottish forces loyal to Bonnie Prince Charlie tried to overthrow their English rulers. When the star goes missing, the producers trick an unassuming extra into filling his shoes, with surprising results.

Capaldi has been a television actor for the last twenty years. He directed Strictly Sinatra a few years back. This film is scheduled to shoot in the U.K. early next year.
