As we reported days ago, Layer Cake director Matthew Vaughn left the production of X-Men 3 due to "personal reasons". It's highly speculated that either he was tired of the studio conflicts or he didn't want to move his family to Toronto for a year.

AICN has learned that 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios have narrowed the replacement for the X-Men 3 director down to two names. Speculation now says that the director's spot will either go to John Moore, who helmed both Behind Enemy Lines and Flight of the Phoenix, or to Brett Ratner, known for the Rush Hour films, After the Sunset and Red Dragon.

Maybe it's just me, but I think this comes as a huge let down. Vaughn was an awesome upcoming director. If you had seen his directorial debut, Layer Cake, you would know what I'm talking about. Ratner and Moore are hacks, in my opinion. I like the X-Men series and don't want to see it go down like this. What do you guys think?
