The UK movie production sector took a second big hit this week as it was announced that the next Harry Potter film would be shot ouside of the country. This is a first in the franchise's history. This comes two weeks after reports that the upcoming James Bond movie, Casino Royale, is in talks to take the franchise from its traditional UK studios to Prague's Barrandov Studios. The Guardian says that the Czech Republic and other eastern European countries such as Hungary and Romania provide top-notch facilities, cheaper rates and tax incentives. Paramount also recently announced it was pulling its $120m production of the Watchmen out of the UK.
