Saving FaceSaving Face topped the indie box-office this week at $16,513 on a mere 6 screens, leaping ahead of Gregg Araki's Mysterious Skin, which has had stable performance in wide release. Sony Classics' Michael Barker talked to indieWire, saying of Saving Face, "it's the perfect alternative to the mainstream studio blockbuster this summer." Mad Hot Ballroom is in wide release as well, but set at third place. What upcoming indie films could catch a bit of the box-office pie? At least four open this weekend, so we'll be sure to see some mix-up despite the grand press behind Saving Face and Mysterious Skin.
