It looks like none of this weekend's new releases were strong enough to topple last weekend's cartoon/remake/lightsaber trifecta. Based on studio estimates, Dreamworks' Madagascar earned $28.7 million this week, just barely enough to edge ahead of The Longest Yard and Revenge of the Sith (virtually tied with $26.1 and $26.0 million, respectively) and into first place. Slots 4, 5. and 6 will go to the weeks three most prominent newcomers: Cinderella Man coasted on mostly positive reviews to make $18.6 million, and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants counter-programmed its way to $10.25 million. Lords of Dogtown's $5.7 million, sixth-place opening suggests that the teenage boy market is stretched a little thin, but it certainly has sleeper potential. Full top ten after the jump.
