The Columbine school district in Colorado won't let a new film, The Sensei (dir. Diana Lee Inosanto), shoot on location. The district claims it doesn't want to open old wounds by having scenes of "bullying" interrupt the "healing community." That the film also deals with a gay youth in the 80s, who learns to defend himself with martial arts (just like the Karate Kid!) after news of the national AIDS crisis turns him into a punching bag for the high school jocks, has nothing to do with the school board's decision, I'm sure.
