Xeni Jardin, who filed a story for Wired News on the LAPD/MPAA surveilance camera crackdown on bootleg DVD sales in downtown LA, has posted a few additional scraps of info on BoingBoing. She, Sean Bonner and Jeff Koga went out looking for the cams, spotted a few and took pictures. Xeni also purchased a couple of bootlegs, and took them to a DVD-savvy friend for analysis. His evaluation showed that the DVDs were encoded at about 1 or 2 megabits per second - as opposed to 6 MBPS for standard store bought DVDs. Xeni's verdict on the quality of her bootleg DVD copy of Return of the Sith? "Unwatchably crappy."
