The deal reached between unions representing actors and videogame publishers over pay increases is an important milestone for the mainstreaming of videogames. Most adults, if asked, would know what Grand Theft Auto is even if they haven't ever played, it and games are taking up more and more real estate both in rental stores like Blockbuster and various online rental services. And more and more of those games are extensions of a brand, especially a movie brand. So if studios are using videogames to drive movie revenue and movies to drive game revenue it only makes sense that actors (frequently not those top liners portraying the characters on the big screen) wet their beaks a little.
