Sony has pulled their remake of The Pink Panther, starring Kevin Kline, Steve Martin and Beyonce Knowles, off of their summer release schedule. They'll now dump in theaters on February 10, right in the middle of the first-quarter graveyard. The official word from the studio is that the move has to do with their recent acquisition of MGM: "We wanted to give our marketing department the time and opportunity to launch this very important franchise," said Sony's Rory Bruer. But that could very well be a lot of bullshit - February is not exactly a prime month for launching franchises, advance word on the picture has been terrible, and IMDB is reporting that the delay is at least in part in reaction to bad buzz on the internet. We'll take as much credit for this as possible.
