I said it before (like, above), and I'll say it again: Gumby rules. When I was a kid, I was totally obsessed with Gumby, Pokey (Pokey!) and their claytastic adventures - in part because it seemed like the rules of their world were so nebulous, at best you could only sort of half figure them out. So I couldn't be happier to find out that The Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria is launching a tribute to Gumby on June 18. Thery'll be an exhibit of Gumby arcana, screenings of the Gumby shows, hands-on DIY Gumby animation booths, a Gumby documentary and ... wait for it ... a special screening of Gumby: The Movie, in which our hero and his rock band (rock band!) battle their nemeses, the Blockheads. Consider my calendar cleared.
