A market research company called the NPD Group found an 60 percent increase over last year in the number of households with video files of 150 megabytes or larger. According to an article in the New York Times, these households averaged about 16 such files, nearly twice as many as last year. The data came from 40,000 volunteers who allowed the group to monitor their computers. Is this supossed to be shocking?

The article goes on to say that "some files might have come" from legal movie downloading services, but others were "clearly not obtained legitimately." OH MY GOD! How shocking! NPD president went on to claim, "You see things on people's computers that there's no legitimate way they belong there, because they had not yet been commercially released."

I don't believe this. The MPAA's gonna be pissed...
