Keenan Ivory, Damon, Shawn and Marlon Wayans are appearing before an Oakland City Council committee today, to present a proposal to turn the Oakland Army Base into a film studio. The base shut down eight years ago and the site has been vacant ever since. It looks like the Wayans have a pretty good chance of seing their proposal go through. Daniel Vanderpriem, Oakland's director of economic development, says that Oakland "gain significant prestige from the establishment of a film production studio," one which won't be hurt by "the Wayans' successful track record." Plus, no one else has made a bid on the site.
