The Hollywood Stock Exchange provides an outlet for people to stop just talking about movies and lets them "invest" in them.  Through Movie Stocks and Star Bonds, players use virtual dollars to bet on the success (or failure) of a movie or actor. To help traverse these sometimes murky waters, Chris Thilk makes like CNBC and gives you the lowdown on what's up and down today.

Why is Alan Cumming's Star Bond moving up today? It's up 2 points in today's trading. None of his upcoming movies have moved up except for X-Men 3. Perhaps it's just now responding to last week's news that Brett Ratner will direct the mutant's sequel but the only thing that news caused to rise was the bile in my throat so I don't think that's it. In fact, the stock for X-3 is currently down 3.15 points on volume of 3.7 million shares. The only movie of Cummings that has moved up is Coming Out with Catherine Zeta-Jones, but that is still listed as being in pre-production.
