Arnold Schwarzenegger gave a commencement speech on Tuesday at Santa Monica College, the illustrious two-year institution the once-and-future Terminator calls his alma mater. As he spun his own rise from barely-literate bodybuilder to leader of the world's fifth largest economy into inspirational gold, "virtually his every word was accompanied by catcalls, howls and piercing whistles from the crowd." Though the Governator enjoyed high approval ratings his first year in office, the honeymoon is definitely over, as citizens statewide have been protesting the "vanity election" the governor is trying to hold for the purpose of pushing three ballot measures through the system ahead of schedule. The graduation is just one example of a recent public appearance that has turned into an occasion for protest.

On a side note, the Washington Post mentions that Schwarzenegger funnelled his four years at SMC into correspondance courses at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in 1979. So does this mean we can we put the Governator for President rumors away, now that we know he has a sham degree from a Midwestern college? I don't think the GOP knows how to market anyone without a sham degree from an Ivy League.
