Batman is Beginning to leave its mark on the box office - it grossed an additional $15.2 million on Friday, to bring its three-day total to $39.4 million. That puts Christopher Nolan's franchise kicker in line for a $75 million opening weekend. Even thought that's less than $25 million more than Mr. and Mrs. Smith made in two fewer days last week, my headline-dar is starting to detect that this is generally going to be considered "enough" to "turn the box office slump around." Whatever. The only other major studio release this weekend, The Perfect Man, made just $2.2 million yesterday, less than five other films but more than The Honeymooners and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants combined.
