With all the talk of bad box office numbers, we have potentially good news for Bat fans. Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Brothers, told The Associated Press that Batman Begins opened strongly enough that he expects the studio will push ahead with a sequel.

Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman have all signed on (in that order) to star in a second Batman movie, but love interest Katie Holmes has been dropped. This is when the whole thing gets kinda tabloidish. PageSix reports that Warner Brothers was furious that Holmes engagement to Tom Cruise stole the media attention away from the movie.

"Everyone is in agreement that the movie's strength is with Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman," a source told PageSix. "Warner is happy that people are now focusing on who'll be playing the JOKER rather than Katie and Tom."

Sounds a little grade school if you ask me, but it gets worse. Page Six's source went on to say, "She won't be in the sequel... the next romantic interest will be a much stronger actress." I almost fell out of my chair when I read this. I love the New York Post.
