Over at Celluloid Eyes, Jette points out an interesting and overlooked fact: both of last weekend's major studio releases, Herbie: Fully Loaded, and Bewitched, were made by female directors (Angela Robinson and Nora Ephron, respectively). That's sort of incredible, considering the overall paucity of high-profile films directed by women. It's too bad, then, for us female film fans, that both pictures would seem to be a little bit crap.
