You all know how much I love to hate those top 10/100 lists made by journalists. Well, Entertainment Weekly online has released a list of the top eight boxing movie cliches. The list includes: the secret softie, the one last fight, the metaphor of a class struggle, the organized crime connection, the violence outside the ring, the grizzled trainer, and the corruption of big money. Number one on the list is "the supporting wife," which can be seen in many boxing movies including Cinderella Man and Rocky. I hate to say it but I pretty much agree with this list. Check out ew.com for the whole list which includes indepth movie case studies.
