Hooligans, the Elijah Wood comedy that swept the narrative prizes at this year's SXSW film festival, has finally found a US distributor. A new company called Odd Lot Releasing has stepped up to distribute the film, under the new title Green Street Hooligans. It'll be Odd Lot's first release. "When analyzing the marketing and release plans of several companies interested in 'Green Street Hooligans,' we realized they were all focused on the traditional arthouse platform release," producer Gigi Pritzker told Variety. "But we knew with certainty that our film appeals to a broader audience and needed appropriate commercial marketing." I wasn't able to get into any of the SXSW screenings of Hooligans, but word on the street was that it was an enjoyable, but terribly conventional comedy. So Pritzker's assessment of its marketing potential sounds about right.
