A couple of weeks ago I spent a day in the Target Red Room at the Los Angeles Film Festival with David Fenster, director of the excellent Narrative Competition feature, Trona. Over bottled water (him) and some kind of corporate-sponsored concoction involving raspberry vodka and three or four different kinds of juice (me - for more details see my fest report), we talked about the film, the Festival, myth of the American desert, and the rise of realistic on-screen sex. David's next project? A documentary inspired by Studs Terkel's Working.
