David Roy, director of a soon-to-be-released adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, delivered a whole bag full of catty comments to Page Six, mostly about actor/Witherspoon stud Ryan Phillipe. Phillippe apparently was trying to get a competing Dorian Gray project off the ground at the same time that Roy's was going into production. What happened to it? According to Phillippe's publicist, it simply "went away" - allowing Roy to claim snot-laced victory. "I've won the battle of the Dorian Grays!" he says. As for Phillippe, Roy never thought of the more famous actor's project as any kind of threat - "Who was going to believe that he's 18 years old?" Roy's "sexually graphic" adaptation stars Seventh Heaven's 18-year-old David Gallagher as the titular eternal youth, and features "one very hot same-sex scene ... We just put the 'gay' back into Dorian Gray." In that case, I can think of at least one gossip site that might claim that Roy and Phillippe should have joined forces after all...
