Page Six, of all sources, has an exclusive with David Lynch on his latest project. And no, we're not talking about Inland Empire, the all-digital flick he's been shooting for two years, which we learned about circa Cannes. Apparently, the director is gearing up to launch the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace. The foundation will build schools to teach Transcendental Meditation, the spiritual practice Lynch has been, well, practicing for over thirty years under the teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the guy responsible for the spiritual seduction of The Beatles. Lynch is launching the venture with his own money. but hopes to raise $7 billion this year.

"This is not a pretend thing," said Lynch.  He went on the explain that the eventual goal is to sponsor "peace-creating super groups of 8,000 meditators" chanting simultaneously around the planet. 8,000, by the way, is "the size of the square root of one percent of the world's population."

So all of this begs the question - now that Lynch has thrown his hat into the celebrity spirituality ring, who is going to be his Brooke Shields?
