I had been hearing a lot about Jessica Simpson's cover of Nancy Sinatra's saucy ode to feminism "These Boots Were Made For Walking" and the accompanying video which features Simpson as Daisy Duke. The temptation to critique the video without actually watching it was strong, but I decided to do the right thing and watch the video. The first eight times I watched it I didn't see anything new, but after seeing it for the seventeenth time, I can say that, yes, she is in fact wearing boots, and yes, they seem to have been specifically designed for walking. The song itself (which also features Willie Nelson) is apparently a mish-mash of genre styles meant to appeal to a wide audience. I wouldn't know that however, as I had the volume turned down.
