Is filmmaker Michael Moore losing his edge? Welcoming crowds to the inaugral Traverse City, Michigan Film Festival, which he cofounded with local movie buffs, Moore said, "This is the America we want to believe in, where we can all have our various beliefs but come together for the greater good of the community." Geez, next thing you know he'll be inviting Rush Limbaugh and Karl Rove over for tea and crumpets.
The Traverse City Festival, which has received support across the political spectrum, is not showing any of Moore's films. Most of the festival films are indie documentaries, dramas and comedies. Not everyone is impressed with Moore's softer side, however: a rival conservative "freedom film festival" is also scheduled.
