We picked up on a story over the weekend, that suggested that Paul Weitz might rewrite his next film, the satire American Dreamz, in order to demonstrate "sensitivity" in the wake of the London bombings. But David Poland spoke with Weitz, who said, "without any waffling", that rumors to that effect are totally untrue. "The article in The Daily Telegraph was unfortunately -- although I'm sure not maliciously -- inaccurate in that the plot of my film has not changed, nor is a change being contemplated," Weitz said. "The film is a comic examination of our cultural obsessions and how they can anesthetize us to the actual issues of our day." The film, starring Willem Dafoe and John Cho (Harold from the White Castle movie) is in production now, and should be released early next year.
