The Golden Globes are Hollywood's most hedonistic circle jerk - something about tables full of booze and the company of European journalists never fails to push the stars into creating an evening full of highly watchable gaffes and soundbites. But as with, like, virtually every other bastion of old-school media culture, ratings are down - and even worse, last year, as Desperate Housewives was winning the Globe for Best Comedy Series, a new episode of the show was trouncing the awards ceremony in the ratings. So the Hollywood Foreign Press Association haas decided to move their traditional Sunday broadcast to Monday night. New problem: now the ceremony will occur on Martin Luther King Day. Fortunately, HFPA got the go-ahead from Samuel L. Jackson (I'm not even kidding) to go ahead with it anyway.
