• Nip/Tuck creator Evan Mitchell has been hired to adapt the play Dirty Tricks, as a vehicle for Meryl Streep. Streep will play Martha Mitchell, wife of Nixon chief of staff John Mitchell. Annette Benning, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jill Claybugh are also set to star.
  • Gary Oldman will star in The Backwoods, a bilingual thriller produced by Spanish company Filmax Entertainment.
  • On the Outs director Lori Silverbush has been hired to helm Bluesman, a coming-of-age tale based on a novel by Andre Dubus. Dubus also wrote the source material behind House of Sand and Fog.
  • Weinstein ratings drama not withstanding, Robert Koehler calls The Great Raid an "overlong march [that] will bore all but the most nobly patriotic of auds, making a quick retreat to vid bivouacs."
