Margaret Cho's latest concert film, Assassin, has been picked up here! Networks, who plan to debut the film on 8 screens concurrent with its cable TV premiere. I think this might be a pretty great example of the rare kind of film that makes simultaneous release seem like not such a bad idea. A Margaret Cho film is the kind of semi-cult phenomena that is, for some people, event viewing; for others, it's a serendipitous thing to find whilst half-awake channel surfing late at night. There's not really an in between. This seems like the best way to give the people what they want. Also noteworthy: all proceeds from the theatrical run will go to gay and lesbian charities.
