muppetsBuena Vista just announced that, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Kermit's birth in November, they will release special DVDs of four muppet flicks. Receiving this (only marginally) special treatment will be The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, The Muppet Christmas Carol, and Muppet Treasure Island. Each disc will contain extras like "Miss Piggy: The Diva Who Would Not Be Denied," and a gag reel from The Muppet Christmas Carol, and will run you about $19.95. The only problem is that the releases seem to be in full screen - let's all pray that's a mistake in the press release.

I don't remember it at all, but The Great Muppet Caper was one of the first movies I saw in a theater. I then proceeded to have nightmares about Piggy rejecting Kermit for nights on end, which caused my parents to wait a long, long time before they took me to see another movie. I'm so buying this.
