Some may view Dazed And Confused as an hour and a half of marijuana-smoking stupidity set against a 70's soundtrack. Others, like me, view it as a film that helped define a decade. Set in the 70's but filmed in 1993, Dazed became somewhat of a phenomenon – a legacy passed down from dorm room to dorm room.
Right from the start, Dazed seemed destined for cult status. Besides launching the careers of Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey, Adam Goldberg, Milla Jovovich and Parker Posey, the film gave birth to memorable characters and created an environment that almost everyone can relate to. While there's no intricate plot or twist ending, Dazed leaves us with a simple message -- it's okay to have fun. It's okay to be young and experiment. Hang out with your friends. Enjoy your youth -- while it's still around.
On September 18th, AMC reunites director Richard Linklater with the cast of Dazed And Confused 10 years after the world first heard the words, "Party at the moontower, full kegs, everybody's gonna be there." The special, Making Dazed, features the stars as they look back on the impact the film has had over the last decade, as well as where it's brought them in their careers to date.
