Justin Theroux is starring in David Lynch's DV feature Inland Empire (is Lynch still insisting we caps that? Is anyone paying him any mind on that one?), and whilst he drops a few details on Dennis Lim about the production, this is the kind of film where even the star doesn't really have much to tell. Lynch is apparently working the very Woody Allen-like angle of refusing to give his actors a completed script. "I couldn't possibly tell you what the film's about, and at this point, I don't know that [Lynch] could. It's become sort of a pastime—Laura [Dern] and I sit around on set trying to figure out what's going on."

Theroux does promise Empire will have its share of "bizarre sex scenes", which is probably a departure from his other summer job – playing "fourth banana" to Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx in the Miami Vice movie. He admits shuttling back and forth between the projects can be jarring. "[Vice is] a big movie, you know, with these big wheels in motion that you feel the material gets crushed under," he says. "You'll be in the makeup chair and they're like, do you mind if we pluck your eyebrows, you kind of have a unibrow, and I'm like, I don't know, would my character pluck his eyebrows? And six memos go back and forth, and they decide yes, he would pluck his eyebrows . . . "
