Robert Downey, Jr., the actor who proved to people everywhere that you can do drugs and still be nominated for an Academy Award, is getting hitched to producer Susan Levin. Downey, who has never quite shaken a slew of drug-related arrests and incidents dating back to 1996, has never been able to separate his work as an actor from his tumultuous real life. This is unfortunate, because he's actually really good. Moreover, it seems we expect more out of our actors than we do from other artists, such as musicians. If a musician is a known drug user we tend to overlook it as long they're still entertaining. I don't see that happening as often with actors, who tend to retreat to rehab in shame so as not to offend the adoring public. Downey is still getting roles, many of them decent, but I think movie audiences abandoned him some time ago.
