Bart FreundlichJust hours before its world premiere at The Toronto International Film Festival, Fox Searchlight threw down a deal worth $6-7 million for writer-director Bart Freundlich's romantic dramedy, Trust The Man. The deal gives Fox North American rights to the film as well as a slew of international: China, Germany, Switzerland and Benelux (because we know them dramedies are huge in Benelux) among others. Proving it pays to marry a B-lister, the film stars Freundlich's wife, Julianne Moore, as well as Billy Crudup, David Duchovny, Eva Mendes, Ellen Barkin and my would-be-wife-if-I-weren't-already-getting-married, Maggie Gyllenhall. That's right, us male Cinematical writers can have pretend Hollywood love affairs too.
