A video ad for Sin City has been banned by The Advertising Standards Authority in England because of fears that it might "cause widespread offense" and damage children. The clip, which shows a car crash, a fist-fight, and shots being fired, had been playing in bus shelters around the country. Even before the ad was released Buena Vista took action to make it less potentially offensive: profanity was removed from the brief scenes, and the clip itself was made less violent. In addition, the button that activates the clip (which is embedded in a poster) was placed high up on the poster in an effort to keep it out the reach of kids. Despite these precautions, however, and regardless of the fact that literally only one person has complained about the ad, the ASA ordered it pulled immediately.
