Alan Rosenberg, who has been on so many TV shows that he's totally a Hey! It's that Guy!, has been elected president of the Screen Actors Guild. Rosenberg, who won 40% of the vote, beat out both Morgan Fairchild and Robert Conrad for the position, which he will hold for two years. Rosenberg was supported by the people who opposed former two-term president Melissa Gilbert's desire to merge the union with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (the merger was barely voted down last year). In addition, he and his peeps favor a stronger stance in contract negotiations, specifically with an eye to increasing the residuals that actors earn from DVD sales. Rosenberg also played a lawyer on LA Law, which will enable him to effectively pepper any negotiations with things that sound legally valid. Since her background was on the Prairie, this was something with which Gilbert consistently struggled during her tenure.
