What, you would have voted for Bewitched? A Radio Times readers poll has named the various Monty Python movies – Holy Grail, Meaning of Life, Life of Brian - as the best films ever spun-off of TV shows. The Python films - starring the original troupe of players, including Eric Idle and John Cleese, and mostly directed by Terry Gilliam – beat out all of the Batman and Star Trek movies for the top slot. Also highly ranked? The Oscar-winning The Fugitive, and Brian de Palma's The Untouchables. Worst-of honors went to, amongst other flops, The Avengers, which is not only one of the worst films I've ever seen, but which is also a completely non-sexy waste of a potentially innuendo-rife premise. Anyway - what would you have voted for? I have a guilty soft spot for the Wayne's World movies – even the second one, but mostly because of the communist-themed coffee house.
