In what Scott Hettrick tells us is "a stunning announcement", Paramount has decided to support Sony's Blu-ray DVD format. I don't know if I'm exactly stunned - Paramount isn't going to abandon their support of Toshiba's competing HD DVD format, which makes this less of a violent action and more of an olive branch. If Paramount is willing to publish in both formats, it seems likely that other studios will follow their lead, thus rendering the format wars meaningless.
New Line has shelled out for a "Legally Blonde-like" script from first-timer David Clawson, about a spoiled department store scion who goes all proletariat sympathetic.
I don't know about you, but that Little Manhattan movie – the one about 10 year olds going on dates – totally freaks me out. Brian Lowry is less freaked out, and more annoyed - because apparently it sucks.
