Narnia posterNot content to do the normal book-publishing thing and just sit and hope the movie based on their novel does well and improves sales, HarperCollins has been actively involved in promoting Walden Media's The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The two companies are sharing artwork and engaging in intense cross-promotion, and HaperCollins has planned an international CS Lewis blitz in connection with the film.

In addition to a new Narnia box set (which is currently #2 on the New York Times children's books chart), the company is releasing 170 new Lewis-related titles across more than 60 countries - and 140 of those are directly connected to the movie. Among the many new or repackaged books are a set of Lewis' religious books for adults, a new Lewis bio, and multiple guides to Narnia. While literary tie-ins are certain not uncommon, this is one of the first attempts at such close and extensive collaboration between the production and publishing teams.
