Paramount has agreed to co-financeDreamgirls, Dreamworks' Bill Condon-led adaptation of the Broadway musical. They'll also take over international distribution, whilst the troubled 'works will release the musical in the States. Dreamgirls, which is essentially The Supremes Story, will star Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy, and Ms. Beyonce Knowles as the sort-of Diana Ross.
Warner Brothers, perhaps trying to steal some of Daniel Craig's thunder, has announced that they'll produce a biopic on James Bond creator Ian Fleming, called, fittingly, Fleming. The film will track how "the author's own experiences with womanizing and spying shaped his signature secret agent creation."
John Hodge, the screenwriter of Trainspotting and A Life Less Ordinary, has been hired to adapt Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising for Walden Media. The story focuses on a boy who realises he's part of a race of immortal warriors. Good for him.
