Remember the Children's Safety Act? That whole thing with the legislation that wanted equate Hollywood sex scenes with hardcore porn? The congressman who created the bill has decided that maybe it doesn't need to be so strict after all. Mike Pence, a Republican from Indiana, says he never intended to target the mainstream film industry in his quest to rid the world of pedophiles. Though he wants to make sure "children are protected in the creation of entertainment products," he agrees that the conditions of the bill shouldn't be unreasonably extended. "We're in conversations now with the legitimate entertainment industry," he says, and the MPAA's Gayle Osterberg confirms, "We are working with Rep. Pence on keeping the focus on preventing child pornography and eliminating any unintended consequences." And softcore enthusiasts the world over sleep soundly once again.
