If you visit unofficial fan site EyesontheHills.com,
you can get a first look at Alexandre
Aja's remake of Wes Craven’sThe Hills Have Eyes.
It features new photos, a film blog by associate producer Cody Zwieg, a few bios and a
history of The Hills Have Eyes. The story,
for those of you who didn’t see the original, follows the adventures of a
family road trip that ends up in a government atomic zone full of blood-thirsty
mutant creatures. Very Wes Craven-esque, overall.
Overall I’m not a huge fan of the horror-thriller genre, but Wes Craven stories generally have a certain sort of panache. His storytelling method is gripping and provocative, which can make his films worth watching for those who aren’t general fans of that style of film. Whether or not the effectiveness of Craven’s style can be convincingly carried off by Aja is the question that remains to be answered. Any Aja fans (or haters) out there in reader-land have an opinion for me?
